The goal of this project was to create a 3D printable sneaker that is efficient in terms of printability using modern resin printers, as well as beautiful and eye-catching. I created a “shell” that was built around a shoe last and modeled in Rhino. After this I used Ntopology to fill the shell with a lattice and assign a thicknesses to the struts.
The 3D print below, was done by Inkbit, a new and innovative 3D printing company who have created an amazing elastomer which gave this print an awesome amount of flex and softness. I’ve also printed quite of few of these with resin printers, and have recently began printing with some new materials suitable for wearability.
